Choco-Nut Oat Squares
1 tsp. olive oil
2/3 cup unsaturated margarine, soft
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 ¾ cups Quaker Instant / Quick Cooking Oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup whole wheat flour
2 eggs, beaten
½ cup semisweet chocolate pieces
½ cup nuts, coarsely chopped
2 tsps. Vanilla essence
¼ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 Pre-heat an oven to 180°C (350°F).
2 Grease a 13”x9” baking pan with oil.
3 In a bowl, beat margarine and sugar until well blended.
4 Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
5 Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread the mixture evenly in the pan.
6 Bake the mixture for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
7 Let it cool before cutting into squares. Serve a la mode!
