Pepper Cheestix

Picking the right snack for your kids can be quite tricky. You wouldn't want them to just snack on junk food but that's just what's in the groceries nowadays.

Here's a healthy treat that your kids will surely love. Try this Pepper Cheestix that is made from oats!



  • 1 cup Quaker Instant Oats
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup Romano or Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp pepper coarsely ground
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsps chopped chives
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg white, slightly beaten


1 Heat an oven to 450’F.
2 In a large bowl mix together oats, flour, cheese, pepper, baking soda, chives and egg.
3 Add buttermilk and mix well until a moist dough is formed.
4 Knead the dough gently on a lightly floured surface.
5 Pat the dough into a rectangle and cut into strips with a knife.
6 Place the dough on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush the top with egg white.
7 Bake for 10-12 mins or until golden brown.
